SLMASC Hosts NSW Youth Championship

The South Lake Macquarie Amateur Sailing Club is all geared up for the great event that it would ever host. The club will organize the NSW Youth Championship in October on Lake Macquarie. Well, this would be one of the biggest events that the club would run and the management is expecting nearly 350 entries coming in this year. Sailors would take part in 17 classes of boat. There are classes specifically for youth sailors and pathway boats as well for kids as they can sail and race to get into the Olympics in the near future. Also, they can gain some experience so rich as to become professionals as they grow up.

There are several classes that are organized out of which 4 courses would be hosted on Lake Macquarie. The partner clubs of the event are Wangi Wangi Amateur Sailing Club and Mannering Park Amateur Sailing Club. There are 2 courses offered by SLAMASC along with the partner clubs, Windsurfers, Optimists, Lasers, Sabots as well as BIC O’Pens.

The double handed boat competition needs two sailors to compete and the optimist class is regarded as one of the boats for training for professional sailors and those pursuing Olympics. This is one of the boats that are sailed the most in the whole wide world. In addition, there are some of the top sailors from America Cup who learned sailing in Optis. As far as the open Optimist class is concerned, there would be top kids from across the country that would compete. The champions would start from 29th September to 1st October and there will be more than hundreds of viewers. It is indeed going to be an interesting event and many top sailors would take part to win the championship. The sailor would commute by boat every day to take part in the race.
